About Us
The New Zealand Transverse Myelitis Support Group are the New Zealand members of the Transverse Myelitis Association (TMA).
As this condition is fairly rare, the number of people registered with TMA who live in New Zealand is small. We have approximately 30 members. Worldwide the TMA membership is in the thousands and spans most countries.
Our aim is to act as a personal, local, contact for anyone who needs to know more about TM, and if required connect people with contacts within the TMA itself. When you, or someone you love, is diagnosed with TM, it is vital there is somebody to reach out to. We are there and we would like to help. There are many different ways TM can strike, many different ages, and there are many different outcomes. Within our support group we can help to put people in touch with others who have had similar experiences and offer support and advice.
